Why does ACE recommend students take the SSAT?
The SSAT (Secondary School Admission Test), established in 1957 by the EMA (Enrollment Management Association), is a standardized assessment designed for primary and secondary school students. Much like the ISEE, it provides a benchmark to evaluate a student’s academic proficiency relative to their peers in the same grade.
If you are planning to transfer to a private school in the U.S. between Grades 3 and 11, the SSAT is an essential and highly influential credential—especially for students whose first language is not English. Currently, over 700,000 candidates from 181 countries take the SSAT annually. More than 600 private and independent schools worldwide use SSAT scores as a key admission criterion, including the Taipei American School (TAS) in Taiwan.
ACE Insights:
We recommend that students first identify their target schools and desired enrollment timeline, then assess their current academic standing before finalizing a comprehensive study and preparation plan.
